Frequently Asked Questions
What you need to know 🤔
Your first session can be painful since the bulb of the hair will be at its largest. Variables in terms of pain tolerance and skin type can also influence the experience. Upon second or consecutive sessions, the bulb of the hair will be weaker and the process will eventually feel closer to a tingling sensation. If you’re concerned about pain, we recommend taking mild pain medication (such as Tylenol or Advil) before your appointment.
It really depends on the individual and other variables such as hair density and thickness. Reduction in hair growth and consistency at the follicle can be apparent with consistent hair removal sessions over a span of 10 months to 3 years. It’s important to note that the skin regenerates every few years and that hormones, diet and lifestyle affect hair density and consistency. After three months of consistent sessions 4 – 6 weeks, you will eventually see an 80% reduction in growth in the same growth cycle.
Most people do not, however, it really depends on the person and their skin. To prevent ingrown hairs, be sure to soak your skin at least 3 times per week for 10 minutes in lukewarm water with ½ cup of sea salt.Â
Exfoliation is the key to preventing and eliminating ingrown hairs. We recommend using a dry brush or exfoliating gloves. Ask your practitioner for suggestions to suit your personal needs.
For optimal results, clients need to have 2-3 weeks of unshaven or waxed haïr that is at least 1/8″ long – about the length of a grain of rice. The hair will take longer to grow at this stage of growth as well. If you have shaved prior to a basic hair removal session, keep in mind the hair will grow back at a similar rate for the first appointment or two.
If you are at the end of the beginning of your cycle, there is no problem booking an appointment. However, we do not recommend booking a session during your menstrual cycle if you have a low pain tolerance, as you will be 50% more sensitive to pain. Make sure to reschedule your appointment within 24 hours in this case.
